A foot ahead of another

BY Benjie Inocencio

The goal of travelling is to reach the destination. Yet, it was the story of the expedition that will be told more.

A mountaineer will dream of reaching the peak, but the climb will fill the pages of the book that will be published about it.

The captain and his ship will be one against all odds to sail across the seven seas, but his journal will talk about the challenges of navigation.

The wise man and a fool will inevitably perish. Their ode will narrate the life they lived and their death will only be the reason for the living to reconnect.

The goal is the lighthouse that brings awareness to our destination, especially in the darkest of nights. Our voyage will be the colorful, radiant, and glowing testimony that will inspire other people like us before, wanderers, on the opposite side of the dinner table.

Then we will realize, it was not the destination that excites us anymore, rather the journey that will tell the taleof triumphs and setbacks, victories and defeat, glory and shame, and everything else that contributed to what transpired to who we are now.

It was not what we achieved;

It was about what we have become.

When you think about your own journey, which moments do you cherish most — the ones that went according to plan, or the ones that took you by surprise?
